Festive Concert December 2023:
Come together with Scotland’s original LGBTQ+ choir for a fabulous night of festive fun! We’ll be singing songs to bring you joy, to soothe your soul, and to get the festive season into full-swing.
Summer Concert June 2023: I Sing What I Am! Our 2023 June summer concert was an evening jam-packed with songs of joy, songs of protest, some traditional tunes, and reimagined classics.
2020
Loud & Proud celebrates its 15th anniversary with a special online event! The Covid-19 emergency has meant all live performances are cancelled, so choir members stepped in to produce this unique online performance. The video is a compilation from past performances and spoken-word pieces from current choir members as well as a surprise virtual choral piece. The video will be on the choir’s YouTube channel from 26 June 2020 at 7.30pm. Loud & Proud is gearing up for our first full year with our new musical director Kathleen Cronie. We will be singing lots of new repertoire reflecting Kathleen’s innovative and enthusiastic leadership. It’s going to be very exciting, so keep an eye on developments here.
Our Stonewall 50 Concert
Our Stonewall 50 Concert on Saturday 1 June, was very special evening. Special thanks to Ali Burns for her anthem ‘Stonewall’ which she created for us. Thank you also to our Front of House team, Alison for the lovely photos, our MC Linda and all soloists, speakers, concert organisers and committee for making this wonderful event happen. And, most of all, to our MD Kathleen for her inspirational and talented leadership!
Loud & Proud on the Fringe
Our annual Fringe concert was a resounding success. Thank you to all of you who supported us and Waverley Care when there was so much going on that same evening of 10 August at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Lothian Road. All proceeds went to Waverley Care, Scotland’s HIV and Hepatitis C Charity and we’ll have a figure of what was raised soon.
Festive Concert 2019
Our annual Festive Concert takes place on Saturday 14 December at Stockbridge Parish Church. What better way to ease yourself into the Festive Season than with our familiar (and not so familiar) mixture of traditional, temporal and spiritual songs. Tickets are £12 and £9 concession from members of from Eventbrite with a book fee.
2018
2018 promised to be an eventful one with lots of surprises in store. As well as our line-up of three concerts, some choir members took part in Various Voices the quadrennial international LGBT singing festival which was held in Munich.
The Rainbow Assembly
Loud & Proud and Edinburgh Gay Men’s Chorus came together in song, to celebrate our LGBT+ voices in concert on a musical journey to Germany on Saturday 28 April. The packed house in The Assembly Hall, Mound Place and supportive audience helped raise funds for our forthcoming trip to Munich, Edinburgh’s sister city, to take part in Various Voices, the Europe-wide LGBT+ choir festival.

The highlight of your Fringe experience this year was undoubtedly our annual Fringe Concert at St Cuthbert’s Church off Lothian Road on Saturday 18 August at 7.30pm. It was also the final concert lead by Karen Dietz who retired as our maestra after 13 years with Loud & Proud. The concert was generously supported by CC Blooms and we raised a total of £2,511.71 for Waverley Care.

Thank you for taking time out in the run up to Christmas to take in our wide repertoire of festive songs, both temporal and spiritual, religious and traditional. Loud & Proud’s Festive Concert
Our annual Festive Concert was held on Saturday 9th December at Broughton St Mary’s Church, Bellevue Crescent. Our acapella performance included traditional and religious songs for the season and was followed by inviting the audience to mulled wine and mince pies.
LGBT Health and Wellbeing Winter Concert
We were delighted to make a return to perform as part of this amazing annual get together on Saturday 2 December celebrating the season but also the services LGBT Health and Wellbeing offer.
World AIDS Day 2017
We supported this year’s Community Gathering organised by Waverley Care at Broughton St Mary’s Church, Bellevue Crescent in Edinburgh’s New Town on Friday 1st December.
Loud & Proud on the Fringe
Loud and Proud held its annual Fringe concert at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Lothian Road, on Saturday 19th August in support of Waverley Care, Scotland’s HIV and Hepatitis C charity. The performance combined Scottish songs, songs from abroad, pop classics and songs of resistance and solidarity. And we’re delighted to say that we were given a standing ovation.
Spring Concert
Now in our 12th year, Loud & Proud held its first concert at Stockbridge Parish Church on Saturday 27th May. Our repertoire has been updated to include several songs from films including Somewhere and Misty Mountains Cold. The unexpected hit of the evening was I Just Can’t Get Enough. The audience appreciated both the sentiments of the song in particular and the evening as whole. We’ll be back in August during the Fringe.
Loud & Proud were delighted to hold their Spring concert once again at Stockbridge Parish Church on Saturday 7th May. The repertoire included some old favourites and some new surprises. We were particularly pleased to welcome The Craigie Choir from Perth as our special guests.
Songlines was an Edinburgh International Festival event on Sunday 21st August. The event took place at nine venues spread across Edinburgh, as far west as Dalmeny, and for Loud and Proud, out east in St Mary’s Church, Haddington. It was designed as a “celebration of singing, inspired by the indigenous Australian ancestral tradition of passing on ancient sacred stories as large song cycles that preserve the living link between land and people”.
Loud & Proud were delighted to have been asked to take part, and we joined forces with Dunbar Sings and North Berwick Sings as one mighty choir of 70 singers; there were two performances, along with soloist, Amy Strachan and the Consort of Voices.
World AIDS Day 2016
It was an honour to sing at the annual World AIDS Day Community Gathering, at Broughton St Mary’s Parish church, Bellevue Crescent on Thursday 1 December at 6pm.
Festive Concert 2016
Our annual festive concert this year was held on Saturday 17 December at St Cuthbert’s Church, Lothian Road, Edinburgh to a packed house. Several of the songs performed were from around the world as well as some traditional and movie favourites.
